Subject: Pouring beeswax into the bread molds
Materials:
Two halves of loaf manchet bread with objects impressed into them, these had been drying for four days in a dark and somewhat humid environment
Beeswax
Oil
Tin can (I used a large empty can of wasabi peas)
Small cast iron skillet
Step 1: Spray coconut oil onto the impressions in the bread molds
Step 2: Place the can on the iron skillet and turn the heat on low
Step 3: Pour the beeswax pellets into the molds to gauge how much to add to the can, pour from the molds into the can and add slightly more beeswax to the can than filled the molds.

Step 4: stir the beeswax with a chopstick as it melts.

Step 5: Once the beeswax is fully liquid, turn off the heat and pour the wax from the can into the bread molds.

Step 6: As some of the wax leaks out of the mold, pour additional layers one at a time, and give them a minute to solidify

As the wax cools it goes from a darker transparent yellow to a light, opaque yellow. As it cools further it will darken again.
Step 7: Place wax molds in the refrigerator for around 15 minutes, or until fully cool to the touch.
Step 8: Carefully remove the bread from around the wax pieces. Despite drying out for four days, the bread wasn’t incredibly stale and still retained a little bit of flexibility. This is possibly because of how dense it was. I had to crack the crust off, but the crumb of the bread could be pulled away a bit at a time relatively easily.
